• Not every bride has $5,000 to spend on her wardrobe for the big day.  We have dresses under $500.  But we want you to feel treated like you're in that nice boutique.

• Not every bride wants to wear the SAME DRESS that's everywhere!   We have a small selection of unique, romantic, affordable gowns & accessories.
   
• Not every bride is tall and wispy.  We look for wonderful things lots of brides can love and wear.

We have started to see a lot of brides lately coming in here needing to buy a second wedding dress, often with little time left.  They've ordered a great dress somewhere on the internet that's not fitting right, and now they need another one.  Or, it's just not as nice in person as it looked in picture.  Yes, we can help!

Among many other things, I'm a hopeless book hoarder, so I'll maintain an ongoing wedding booklist, some with my reviews that I hope you'll enjoy.

One of the ongoing wedding trends is the "green" wedding.  Now there are lots of great ideas on the subject, you could go all out with it, or you could simply pick a gesture that represents you as a couple, and it also adds a modern touch.

Love our Wedding Folklore, Why Something Borrowed? (Does renting count?)

First of all we can help be sure that you're not missing any of your "somethings" old, new, borrowed and blue. You can't have too much GOOD LUCK right? 

Plus, it's tradition and some traditions can be comforting.  So, with a little research and opinions combined, renting doesn't count as borrowed. I will see that you have something actually borrowed.

Just thinking... about Embracing Your Inner Tourist

I was just thinking....about being a tourist. I love being a tourist myself! I love hotels, the tiny soaps, I must know what bottles of what we get. Coffee included thrills me. I buy the t-shirts, I never miss a gift shop, love in-room movies, I plunk money in machines, I’m a very faithful tourist!

I love Vegas, Laughlin, NYC and of course; Disneyland! In fact we’ve assigned a “land” to several Hotel/Casinos here in town that remind of spots at the Happiest Place. Of course a lot of it is in the outsides of the building mostly, but it’s something. And there’s some great places I love to get a wonderful dramatic photo of a bride. We’ll definitely do that!

For instance one has a REAL train that circles the hotel casino. Oh, note to self, great addition to photo opp test list for a bride, perhaps meeting her awaiting groom! I digress. Anyway the train even smells like Disneyland, I think it’s the steam.

Anyway, it’s a simple and free chance to sit down and roll along for a few moments and collect your thoughts.  (2011 UPDATE: sad news;  since I wrote this, the train has been discontinued. )

A different look at romance

When I first moved to Laughlin I began to notice something different around here, something about the couples walking around.  On a nice day,or even when its just tolerable, couples walking along hand in hand.  But these couples are in their 40's, 50's,... 70's and more, smiling, holding hands.

It's not surprising to see a twentysomethings or teenage couple hold hands in most places, but this touches my heart.  Are they just having a nice getaway?  An Anniversary?  Are they the newlyweds?  Or do they just care and love and stroll hand in hand.  Still.  I just love seeing them, it feels romantic somehow.  And it's just so common that it really just think they're happy.

I wonder if a young newlywed couple also likes thinking that could be them someday, that they really are seeing out that far?  They're probably going from one casino to another, maybe for a special dinner or I rather a dinner special, we're all about the deals around here!  Or karaoke or favorite lucky machines, or to the mall, whatever. 

Will she still hope he'll reach out for her hand?  And he feel just right to hold onto hers?  I like thinking so.

I'm spoiled by the hotel rates in Laughlin

My loving In-Laws came here to visit instead of us going there.   Talk about thankful - even a Holiday Inn Express pushes $150 a night where they live.   I'm so spoiled by the rates here.   It nearly killed us to sign a $750.00 charge just for the 2 rooms last year. You could probably get the Honeymoon Suite around here $150.00!

They stay at different hotels each time, this one is a friendly hotel based on a riverboat theme, think "New Orleans Square" except with a casino.  I really miss Disneyland, so several hotels are my tiny "fix" in a way.  I would love to photograph a long elaborate wedding gown on the grand staircase with the gigantic chandeliers sparkling someday.

Anyway they got a great deal.  They're happy, I'm happy. 

Sit by the river with a bit of wine at sunset? Yes.  Here in Laughlin you can walk along the Colorado River with a glass (well, not glass, plastic) of wine in hand, yes, you're allowed do that here.  You don't want to do it in July when it's 110, perhaps, but much of the year, it's just right.
